Square Aluminum Air Caster
The square aluminum air caster is a popular choice for customers who do not want the load modules fitted
permanently to their loads. This is normally because the load moving system is not subjected to multiple loads per
day. Load moving frequency is likely to be weekly or monthly or similar intervals thus making the square aluminum
caster more cost-effective for handling loads less frequently.
Another benefit to using square aluminum air caster modules
is that they can be used over and over again with different loads by simply removing them when finished with a
load move, and then switching them to a different load. Unlike the round steel load modules, they are far more
versatile and can be used for multiple load moving operations but with a possible variety of different loads.
Their round steel counterparts that are permanently fitted are stuck with that load.
A further benefit to using aluminum air casters is that their lightweight generally means
far less shipping costs to factor in to your purchase. They are also packed in much lighter shipping materials
which help to keep the costs down.
Square aluminum aircasters are built around a load module that consists of an extrusion which is
perfect for acting as an air chamber through which the compressed air can pass on its way to the air bearings
mounted on the underside of the load module. Standard square aluminum air casters are fitted with A-type air
bearings - as shown to the right.
Apart from the obvious differences in our standard load modules - weight, shape etc. -
there are virtually no other differences between the square aluminum and the round steel air casters.
The height of the two models are much the same, as are the height when in the raised or lowered
positions. In fact, the actual air bearings are one and the same on both air casters.
