What About Uneven Loads?
An uneven load is one that does not have its weight evenly distributed throughout the load. If it did, the load
would be pretty even throughout - like a pallet load of something.
However, machinery in today's world is rarely uniform in shape. Machines can be all shapes and sizes, with
extremes in centers of gravity - from very low to very high - depending on the machine height and
footprint.
Sometimes the level of disproportion in a machines weight is very extreme. This could mean that the machine has
virtually all its weight on one end, a little weight in the center region and nothing much at the other end. In
situations like these we have to look at differing ways of correctly supporting this type of load.
This is where air casters really power and strength kicks in. As mentioned in another heading, air caster load
moving systems are modular and very flexible. They are modular to the extent that you can place individual air
casters in virtually any shape footprint that you might imagine. As long as you have the correct number of air
casters to support the load correctly and with sufficient weight capacity, they will lift and move anything you
throw at them.
Here are some diagrams highlighting the different formats you can choose when you encounter a load of odd shape,
weight or size.
1. Regular size load or machine.
2. Rectangular load with little of its weight on the right side.
3. Tee-shaped load with most of its load center to rear.
4. Load footprint as above, but with definite weight extending out into the tee-piece.
If you are in doubt about any of your load's properties, please contact the Hovair factory
and speak to one of our support staff who will be happy to advise you.
