Moving Heavy Loads The Easy Way

Are Air Caster Systems Modular?

Yes they are! We are often asked why we describe air casters as modular. As a general rule, anything that is made up of separate identical components can be described as modular.

For instance, all single air casters consist of a load module with an onboard air bearing. To become an efficient heavy load moving system, they need to be grouped together in sets of four or more. Hovair Systems manufacture standard air caster kit systems with either four or six modules included. However, you are not forced to have just four or six air caster load modules in your system.

The four and six station systems are the most popular and suit most people's needs. But we cater for so much more than the standard load modules. Hovair Systems' strength kicks in when we are asked to provide a system to move heavy machinery that is far from the conventional four-sided shape.

Loads can be all shapes and sizes. Some may have multiple sides of six, seven eight or even more. Some loads may also have disproportional weight distribution. For instance, a load may be ten feet long with most of the weight on one half only. Any of these occurances require different placing of the air casters underneath the load.

Whatever the weight or shape of the load, the air casters must be placed in such a way to both support and take care of any weight balance that is disproportionate to the size and shape of the load.

Air casters are indeed modular and in some of the described situations the benefits of being modular are apparent. You can add as many modules as you like to provide support and more weight capacity as dictated by your load's weight or shape. There is nothing to prevent you from using 5 or 7 load modules. Just make sure that the combined load module capacity exceeds the load's total weight.
