Air Caster Floor Surface Requirements

To be able to operate air caster load and machine moving equipment efficiently and as intended, you need to have a pretty good floor surface to work on. You cannot just place an air caster system on any old floor and expect it to work.

For an air caster load moving system to operate correctly you need to have the following specifications in place:

  • Floor surface should be of polished or smooth concrete, or other non porous material
  • Floor surface should be non porous - smooth concrete, linoleum (non embossed) etc.
  • All cracks should be filled to surface level with an epoxy type concrete sealer
  • Minor cracks can be taped over as a temporary measure
  • All floor protrusions should be ground down to floor level
  • All indentations should be filled to surface level with epoxy type concrete sealer
  • Floors should be flat, level and even to avoid gravity drift

If your floor surface is in a poor condition, it doesn't cost a fortune to have your floor skimmed to a smooth and level state.

Alternatively, you could use aluminum, steel, or other suitable sheeting on which to operate your load moving tasks. To do this, you only need to lay sheeting down in the area of your load's travel path as it moves to its destination. After use, simply pick up the sheeting and store till next time of use.
