VL-type Air Bearings
The VL-type air bearing has a similar type
of diaphragm to the standard A-type air bearing. However, that is where the similarity ends. While the
A-type air bearing has an aluminum back-plate, the VL-type has a stainless steel load module
into which the VL diaphram is machine-rolled and sealed during its construction. This makes the VL a sealed
unit and should a replacement air bearing be necessary, a complete new unit is fitted instead.
Like the A-type air bearing, the VL-type has only sufficient lift to cause
a state of flotation to take place under the load - sufficient to take the load off to its
destination. It does not have any higher lift properties like the B-type.
